Amidst the bitter cold in Bokaro, the Municipal Corporation has made special arrangements for night shelters for the destitute people. Shelter homes have been built for men at Jodhadih turn (15 beds) and for women at ITI turn (20 beds). Here, all the necessary facilities like blankets, heaters, cleanliness and food are being provided free of cost, and a rescue program is also being run for the shelterless.
Bokaro: The harsh cold is at its peak with falling temperatures in Bokaro district. The minimum temperature in the district has reached 13 degrees Celsius. In such a situation, if someone is shelterless and destitute, then special arrangements have been made for them by the Municipal Corporation. Separate night shelters have been made for men and women. Where all necessary facilities are available.
A night shelter has been built for men in front of the Hanuman temple located at Jodhadih turn of Chas. A facility of 15 beds is available here for the comfortable stay of homeless people. Shiv Charan, manager of the shelter home, said that here the facilities of blankets, mosquito nets, heaters, clean drinking water, bathrooms, toilets, room heaters and first aid boxes are being provided to the needy. He also told that rescue programs are run regularly during the cold season. In which needy people wandering on the streets are brought to shelter homes and provided with safe accommodation and food.
Arrangements here for women
At the same time, a shelter home for women is located in front of the Municipal Corporation office located at ITI Mod. In which a room is also reserved for transgenders, so that all the needy can get a safe and respectable place. Neetu, the head of the women’s shelter, said that there are a total of 20 beds here. Where women above 18 years of age can live. This shelter home also has the facility of clean drinking water, bathroom, toilet, room heater, first aid box and mosquito net. Here all the services are being provided completely free of cost, so that no woman gets troubled in the cold and can remain safe.
What did the beneficiaries say?
Santosh, who was staying in the shelter home, told that he works as a labourer. In such a situation, it is very difficult to spend the night outside in the cold. The shelter home is a warm, safe place and the facilities are also quite good.
