Bijapur News: The encounter between security forces and Maoists in West Bastar Division area of Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday morning has given a big success in the anti-Naxal operation. So far, bodies of 12 Maoist cadres have been recovered. This also includes the dead body of commander of PLGA Company Number 02 and notorious Maoist cadre DVCM Modiyami Vella. Modiyami Vella had a prize money of Rs 8 lakh. A huge quantity of arms and ammunition has been seized from the encounter site.
The incident started around 6 am in the dense forests of Bijapur, when a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG), Cobra Commando and local police was on a search operation. The Maoists suddenly started firing, to which the security forces gave a befitting reply. After the firing that lasted for about two hours, the Maoists started running away, but the area was cordoned off. Modiyami Vella, who was the mastermind of several attacks in Bastar division, has been identified among the recovered bodies. The identity of the other 11 cadres is yet to be known, but they have been confirmed to be associated with PLGA and the local committee.

One LMG machine gun, two AK-47 rifles, one SLR, one INSAS rifle, one 303 rifle and heavy ammunition were recovered from the encounter site. IG Bastar said, “This success is a huge blow to the Naxalites. The elimination of a big cadre like Modiyami is a big step towards peace in the region.” Search operation is going on, additional forces have been deployed and the area has been cordoned off.
3 soldiers martyred, two injured
Let us tell you that there is also a sad news. 3 soldiers of Bijapur DRG have been martyred in the encounter. Among the martyred soldiers are Head Constable Monu alias Mohan Baddi, native of Police Station Maded area, District Bijapur, Martyred Constable Dukaru Gonde, DRG Bijapur, native of Police Station Nelsanar area, District Bijapur, Martyr Jawan Ramesh Sodi, DRG Bijapur, native of Police Station Awapalli area, District Bijapur. At the same time, two soldiers of Bijapur DRG were also injured in the encounter. Their names are ASI Janardan Korram and constable Somdev Yadav.
