Canada Anti India Slogan Raised: A video from Canada showed a crowd insulting the Indian tricolor. The police officers present at the spot were controlling the crowd but they did not take any action against sloganeering or insulting the flag, due to which questions are being raised.
Something happened in the unofficial Khalistan Referendum organized by the Sikhs for Justice organization on Sunday in Ottawa, the capital of Canada, which has once again increased the fears of tension in India-Canada relations. Sikhs for Justice, an organization which is banned by India under UAPA. During the program organized by the same, not only the Indian tricolor was insulted but violent sloganeering and violent demonstrations also took place. The people involved in the organization raised provocative slogans like ‘Kill’, due to which the improving relations between the two countries have once again become tense.
A large number of people from the organization gathered outside the McNabb Community Center in Ottawa since morning. SFJ claims that more than 53,000 Sikhs from Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec took part in the voting. The crowd was so huge that there was a line of about two kilometers long outside the centre. People of all ages, from newborns to the elderly, arrived and voting began at 10 a.m. and had to be extended beyond the scheduled time to handle the crowd. Having such a program in Canada is a matter of concern for India.
Referendum of extremists in Canada, police silent
The most controversial pictures during this program were of extremists waving yellow Khalistan flags. They were raising violent slogans against India. In several videos, people were seen raising furious slogans targeting Indian leaders and officials. In another video, a crowd was seen insulting the Indian tricolor. The police officers present at the spot were controlling the crowd but they did not take any action against sloganeering or insulting the flag, due to which questions are being raised. The video released by Alberta-based digital media outlet Media Bezirgan clearly showed that police were present in large numbers, but did not intervene in the incidents.
Terrorist Pannu raised questions on India-Canada relations
During the event, India-proclaimed terrorist and SFJ General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannu addressed supporters through satellite message and described the referendum as a success for the growing Khalistan movement in Canada. SFJ made another controversial statement asking why Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same day during the G20 summit in South Africa. SFJ raising questions on this meeting is quite suspicious at this time because this entire incident has happened at a time when India and Canada have been working to reduce bilateral tensions in recent months. Not only this, Canadian PM Mark Carney is also going to visit India in January, in which this issue may come up.
