Araria. The unhindered movement of anti-social elements in the registration offices of Bihar has raised questions on the entire system. By missing the original land documents from the record room, fake documents are being prepared and on the basis of them the land is registered. This game is not new, but has been going on for years. The surprising thing is that despite FIR being registered against 10 people in the case of tampering in the register of Araria Registry Office, no arrest has been made till now.
Dominance of land mafia
Unrestricted entry into office
Anyone can enter Araria Registration Office without any restriction, there is no barrier. The reach of the land mafia syndicate is so deep that they tear pages from the original records of the record room, prepare fake documents and paste them in the register. On the basis of this fake paper, they get someone’s private land registered as their own. This is where the story of land grabbing begins. Arun Verma, clerk of Araria Registry Office, said that mafia syndicates are sitting all around. They come for registration only when their papers are ready.
The game spread all over Bihar
District Under Registrar Officer Kaushal Kumar Jha said that this game of land mafia is not limited to Araria. They have access to the record room and such tactics of land grabbing are going on in other districts too. He said that an FIR has been lodged naming 10 people including two office employees. This raises questions on the officials of the Registration Department as to how the employees are making the original documents disappear without their consent.
Laziness even after FIR
In this case, the department lodged an FIR in the city police station, but even after two days no accused was arrested. Araria SP Anjani Kumar said that the department has registered a case and investigation is underway. Apart from Araria, the formula of land grabbing by land mafia is going on in full swing in other districts also. FIR was registered against 10 people including two registry office employees, but the police is only investigating. The district administration is sitting relaxed after registering an FIR.
Question on safety cover
Earlier too, FIRs were registered against land mafia, but no major action was taken. In such a situation, the question is who are the security guards for the mafia? This problem is serious in Bihar and the lands of common people are in danger. The government needs to take strict steps.
So your land is not safe in Bihar!
The case of Araria is not just the story of one district, but exposes the weak vein of the registration system of entire Bihar. When the record room itself is not safe and no action is being taken even after FIR, then how can common citizens keep their land safe? The question is also that who are the faces giving protection to the mafia, if the government does not take strict steps soon, then the loot of land will be completed on paper only – and the real owners will keep wandering from door to door.
