Rajya Sabha News: Two interesting incidents happened on the very first day of the winter session of Rajya Sabha. When her name came up to speak in Zero Hour, BJP MP Dharamsheela Gupta said that she did not have the paper to speak, on which there was laughter in the House. On the other hand, MP Sangeeta Yadav started reading the special mention speech during zero hour itself. When the Chairman interrupted, both of them changed the topic and expressed their views.
The winter session of Parliament has started. On the very first day, two interesting incidents came to light in the Rajya Sabha which lightened the atmosphere and also showed a human glimpse amidst the serious debates of the House. It was a matter of Zero Hour, where MPs raise brief issues on their decided topic. But this time the pamphlets attracted more discussion than the topics. Who did not have the form and who had it, it was the wrong one.
First came BJP MP from Bihar Dharamsheela Gupta. The Chairman clearly stated his name, state and his subject “Naturopathy Institute in Bihar”. Gupta stood up, smiled and said very casually, “I don’t have what to say.” Light laughter echoed in the house. Gupta herself laughed at this error and said, “There is no paper.” The Chairman read the subject again and asked “Can anyone help them?” But Dharamsheela remained confused as to where the pamphlet had gone. The discussion proceeded and the Chairman took the name of the next speaker.
The Chairman interrupted smilingly.
This incident had not even ended when a few minutes later a similar but even more interesting incident happened with Uttar Pradesh MP Sangeeta Yadav. It was zero hour, but Sangeeta Yadav got up with the special mention slip. He started speaking confidently on the AI mission. She also spoke for about a minute. The Chairman interrupted smilingly, “This is zero hour… speak accordingly. Your topic is the quality of medicines.” Sangeeta Yadav said with a shy smile, “Sir, I had received both the pamphlets.” Then he completed his talk by speaking on the right topic.
‘Sir, please tell me the topic’
Not only this, a funny moment also happened with the third speaker. When the name of MP from Bihar Bhim Singh was called, he stood up and said directly, “Sir, let me be told the topic.” The Chairman explained the topic and after this Bhim Singh spoke on the issue related to reducing the amount of oil in food items. This light-hearted experience on the very first day of the session was also an indication that the Parliament of India is not just a place for policies and debates, but is also a platform for human nature, small mistakes and their easy acceptance.
