Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s diplomacy was once again clearly visible in the pictures at the G-20 summit held in Johannesburg. Every meeting, every smile and every handshake gave the message that India is now not only standing confidently on the global stage, but has also become the real voice of the Global South.
PM Modi held a meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and reviewed India-South Africa relations. They discussed wide-ranging partnerships ranging from trade, culture, investment, technology, skilling and critical minerals and also congratulated South Africa for its successful G-20 presidency.
PM Modi also met Netherlands Prime Minister Dick Scoof. Both leaders agreed to expand partnership in the fields of water, innovation, energy and technology. In the pictures, a comfortable and warm conversation between the two leaders was clearly visible.

PM Modi also met Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness on the G-20 platform. PM Modi described this relationship as a “friendship forged by history and culture”. The photos reflect the spirit of trust and common development between the two countries.
PM Modi also spoke to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. He talked about increasing partnership in technology and skilling sector to strengthen historical relations and development cooperation. The pictures show a spontaneous conversation between the two leaders.

PM Modi’s meeting with Brazilian President Lula da Silva looked full of warmth as always. Both the leaders seemed to agree on further strengthening trade, culture and people-to-people ties.
The IBSA meeting of India, Brazil and South Africa at the summit gave a big picture of three continents, three democratic powers and the collective voice of the Global South. Modi said that IBSA is not an ordinary group, but a platform for the aspirations of the emerging world. The body language of the three leaders in the photographs gives the message that India is now a more influential and reliable partner than ever before.
PM Modi also spoke to Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, during the Johannesburg G20 Summit.
