Muzaffarpur: The traffic jam is continuously increasing in Muzaffarpur city of Bihar. People waste both time and money due to traffic jams. Now the administration has intensified the initiative to deal with the long standing problem of traffic jam. The uncontrolled operation of autos and e-rickshaws in the city creates more problems of traffic jams. Comprehensive guidelines have been prepared for the purpose of controlling it. All the rules will be issued by December 20 and will be implemented with immediate effect. After the implementation of the new system, a big change can be seen in the traffic system of the city.
According to administrative sources, entry of autos and e-rickshaws coming from rural areas into the city may be stopped. Under this, monitoring arrangements will be made on major entry routes around the city. Autos and e-rickshaws of rural areas will drop the passengers at the entry gate itself, from where the passengers will reach the destination by scheduled autos or e-rickshaws running within the city. Even in the reserve, vehicles from rural areas will not be able to reach the railway station or other major places of the city.
Pick and drop system is likely to be implemented in the new system. However, keeping in mind the emergency circumstances, special relaxation can be given to bring and take serious patients to the hospital. This will provide relief to the general public and will also show sensitivity towards human aspects.
There is a plan to operate autos and e-rickshaws by dividing the city into several zones. The number of vehicles will be decided for each zone and route and operation will be allowed accordingly. Zone and route numbers will be marked on autos and e-rickshaws for identification. Along with this, there is also a plan to install QR codes on vehicles, so that their identification and monitoring can be easier.
In urban areas, a certain percentage of the total rated capacity will be kept in reserve for autos and e-rickshaws. The number of vehicles will be decided according to the width and capacity of the roads. Besides, parking and stopping places will also be marked, so that there is no unnecessary crowd on the roads.
A detailed plan regarding this entire arrangement has been prepared and sent to the District Magistrate. After getting the approval, its responsibility will be handed over to many departments including Municipal Corporation, District Transport Department and Traffic Police. On one hand, the city is expected to get relief from the problem of jam after the implementation of the new system, on the other hand, with the color code and zone-wise identification, auto and e-rickshaw operations will also become more organized and transparent.
