The easiest way to identify pure honey is to test it with water. For this, add one teaspoon honey in a glass of water. After five minutes, you will see that pure honey will solidify and form a lump, whereas fake honey will dissolve quickly due to the addition of sugar or water.
Vinegar is so hard that it can react with anything and melt it. In such a situation, take 1 spoon of honey and add a few drops of vinegar on it. If steam starts coming out from it and the color starts changing, then understand that the honey is not pure. If there is no change in the honey and it remains as it is, then it can be real honey.
If you want to identify whether honey is real or fake, then apply a small amount of honey on your thumb. If it is spreading on your thumb like other liquids, then assume it is not real honey. Real honey is thick and does not drip.
Put a few drops of honey on some dry paper. Pure honey will not wet the paper too much and will just be slightly sticky. If the paper gets wet immediately, then understand that water or syrup has been mixed in it.
Dip a cotton wick in honey and try to light it. If the honey is pure, the flame will continue to burn, it may even burn itself a little. Fake or water mixed honey often starts cracking or does not burn easily due to excess moisture. This test may seem old, but it works and takes just a few seconds to try.
