By launching high-intensity combat of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile in the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Army showed the world how lethal and accurate its strike capability is in the Indian Ocean. In the joint operation of Southern Command and Andaman-Nicobar Command, the missile destroyed the target with accuracy in real-war like conditions. The message is clear that India is aggressive and fully prepared on every front.
New Delhi. India has once again proved that its firepower in the Indian Ocean is more than enough to challenge any opponent. The Indian Army on Tuesday launched a high-intensity combat launch of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile in the Bay of Bengal, which not only demonstrated its accuracy brilliantly but also put India’s long-range strike capability in front of the world with double the strength. This test was not just a technical demonstration, it was a direct message that India is ready on every front, on sea, border and sky.
This mission was accomplished by the BrahMos unit of the Southern Command of the Indian Army in collaboration with Andaman-Nicobar Command (ANC). Andaman-Nicobar Command is India’s first and only tri-service command, which handles joint operations of the Army, Navy and Air Force. This combined operation has made it clear that India is now ready to respond to any threat not only on its own soil but in the entire Indian Ocean region.
The missile pierced the air and hit the target
The BrahMos missile that was tested was equipped with an advanced guidance system. The biggest strength of the missile is its supersonic speed i.e. flying almost three times faster than the speed of sound (Mach 2.8–3.0). It is not easy for any weapon system to accurately attack a target flying at such a speed, but BrahMos once again proved that the technical capability of the Indian Army is one of the top missile systems in the world. After launch, the missile performed a very stable and controlled flight, approaching the target from medium-level altitude, activated its terminal guidance at the last moment and engaged the target with centimetre-level precision.
