Since it falls in the month of Pausha, you will also get the blessings of Lord Surya on this date. In such a situation, if you do some charity on this day, it also relieves you from Pitra Dosh and financial poverty.
If you donate black sesame seeds on Amavasya Tithi, it is considered most sacred. By doing this it is said that Pitra Dosha gets calmed. After taking bath, donate black sesame seeds to a poor Brahmin.
