Firstly, on top of that, adverse weather and various diseases arising in animals due to lack of nutrition, increase the expenses of animal farmers to such an extent that you cannot even imagine. As a solution to this, animal scientists have suggested a precise solution which can permanently eliminate the problem of animal feeding. Experts say that by mixing different types of green grass, a product can be prepared which can easily be used as animal feed for four months. The interesting thing is that this special food is known as animal pickle, which is full of nutrition.
Prepare animal pickles in two ways
Animal scientist Dr. Ranjan, working as an animal husbandry scientist at the Desi Cow Conservation and Promotion Center located in Madhopur of the district, says that this pickle made for animals is prepared from advanced quality pulses and non-legume green fodder. Mainly it can be made in two forms. The first is ‘hay’ and the second is ‘silage’.
Method of making silage
To make silage, first of all, a pit of one meter long and one meter wide has to be made, then the arable grasses like jowar, maize, napier and berseem have to be cut into small pieces and filled by compacting them. Keep in mind that the grass has to be filled in the pit in such a way that there is no space left for air in it. After doing this, one percent salt of the fodder weight (1 kg salt per 100 kg fodder), 10 percent jaggery powder and some other essential nutrients have to be mixed in it. Now this mixture has to be air-tight with a big plastic sheet, sealed well and left for two months. After leaving it for 60 to 70 days, this mixture is now ready to feed the animals.
Prepare once and use for 120 days
Keep in mind that while removing it, not even a little air should enter inside the plastic sheet. The interesting thing is that once the silage is prepared, it can be used as animal feed for 4 months. According to Dr. Ranjan, this fodder made from adhalhani grass is known as pickle for animals, consumption of 8 to 10 kg per day is considered best for every animal. The matter of relief is that after feeding this, there is no need to give other grains to the animals.
This is the method to make it
Dr. Ranjan explains that only pulse fodder is used to make hay. After cutting the fodder from the fields, dry it thoroughly in the sun. Then remove it from there and keep it under a shade and let it dry again. Keep in mind that during this time sunlight should not fall directly on the fodder. After drying in the shed, when more than half of the moisture of the fodder is lost, then it can be stored and used for a long time. According to experts, animals like to eat this fodder with great enthusiasm. The nutrients present in it help in increasing milk production in cattle.
