No matter how clean you keep your house, sometimes a slight odor still creeps in. Be it the strange smell coming from the fridge, the smell of stuffiness in the room or some strange smell coming from the kitchen, all these spoil our comfort and mood. In such cases, we mostly buy expensive air fresheners, but sometimes the effect is not much.
The good thing is that easy and cheap solutions to such problems are available in our home itself. Even simple items like coffee grounds, eucalyptus, dryer sheets, essential oils and vanilla extract can give a beautiful smell to the house.
Keep coffee grounds in the refrigerator
The mixed smell of food kept in the fridge can be irritating. Instead of baking soda, keep a bowl of dried coffee grounds. The nitrogen present in them absorbs the odor and the fridge starts smelling fresh.
Eucalyptus legs in the shower
Want to make your bathing experience like a spa? Make a small bundle of fresh eucalyptus and hang it on the showerhead. The steam of hot water spreads its fragrance, which makes the mind feel calm and refreshed.
Freshen up throw pillows with dryer sheets
It is not necessary to wash pillows every time. Place a used dryer sheet between the pillow cover and cushion. This maintains a light, clean scent in the pillow and removes stuffiness.
Put essential oils in the trash
The smell of dustbin is the most irritating. Put a few drops of essential oil on a cotton ball and throw it in the dustbin. Tea tree or citrus oils reduce bacteria and mint oil can keep rats away.
Sweet scent throughout the house with vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 300°F and add 2–3 teaspoons of vanilla extract to a small oven-safe dish and place in the oven for 20 minutes. After some time, a sweet, bakery-like aroma will start spreading in the house.
