In Balochistan, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) attacked Jafar Express on March 11 this year and hijacked the entire train. This incident happened when the train was going from Quetta to Peshawar. There were more than 400 passengers in it. The BLA first detonated an explosive device on the track in the hilly area near Bolan Pass, stopping the train and then started firing indiscriminately. Where the train attack took place, there are many tunnels.
On March 11, Baluchistani extremists had hijacked the entire train. Because of this the area was in discussion.
After the hijack, BLA had given an ultimatum of 48 hours and demanded the release of Baloch prisoners. It was said that more than 200 passengers have been taken hostage, many of whom were army personnel. However, later Pakistani security forces launched a major operation and surrounded the entire train with the help of helicopters and special forces. The encounter between both sides lasted for several hours, after which most of the hostages were rescued. According to the army, 33 extremists were killed in this encounter, while 21 hostages and 4 soldiers were martyred. This area came into limelight due to the train hijack case.
