Donald Trump US News: Donald Trump government has expanded the scope of its travel ban to more than 30 countries. Along with this, complete or partial restrictions and strict entry rules have been imposed on the citizens of these countries. This decision is being considered as part of the ongoing crackdown on immigration in America.
President Donald Trump’s administration has taken the biggest and strictest step so far regarding the entry of foreign citizens. The Trump government has expanded the scope of its travel ban to more than 30 countries. Along with this, complete or partial restrictions and strict entry rules have been imposed on the citizens of these countries. This decision is being considered as part of the ongoing crackdown on immigration in America. Recently, this has been intensified after the attack on two National Guard soldiers on Thanksgiving weekend. After the accused of this attack was an Afghan citizen, security agencies had expressed serious concerns about the visa and immigration check system.
The Trump administration says that the countries included in this list have been found to have large-scale corruption, unreliable or fake documents, weak criminal records systems and administrative instability. Due to these reasons, it becomes difficult for America to check the bank background of the citizens of those countries. Apart from this, visa overstay rates are very high in many countries and some governments have been refusing to take back their citizens deported from America. All these reasons have been described as a threat to America’s internal security.
Complete ban on how many countries?
Under this new announcement, complete restrictions and entry restrictions on citizens of previously identified 12 high-risk countries will remain in force as before. These include Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. The Trump administration says that in the current situation of these countries, the security risk to America remains the same.
Along with this, based on the recent security and intelligence review, five more countries have been added to the list of complete ban. These include Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan and Syria. The special thing is that persons holding travel documents issued by the Palestinian Authority have also now been brought under the ambit of complete ban and strict entry limits, which is likely to intensify the debate at the international level.
The Trump government has also tightened the noose on those countries, which were earlier under the partial ban. Complete restrictions and entry limits have now been imposed on Laos and Sierra Leone. The administration believes that these countries did not cooperate enough to address America’s concerns, due to which this decision had to be taken.
