Google has launched the Emergency Live Video feature of Android. In this, during an emergency call or message, the dispatcher can ask for live video directly from your phone. Through this video, real time information about accident, fire or medical emergency is available. The feature has currently been launched only in America, parts of Germany and Mexico.
New DelhiGoogle has launched a new security feature called Android Emergency Live Video which takes the emergency response system to the next level, Generally, when there is an accident, fire or medical emergency, help is sent on the phone only on the basis of voice or text, But now on Android, the user will be able to show the live video of his camera directly to the emergency team if needed, This provides real-time information about the situation and makes it easier to provide immediate help,
There is no need to set anything in the phone to use this feature. When you call or message an emergency number, the dispatcher can send a request for live video to your phone. After this, if you approve, your camera will start sending real time video. This video will be encrypted and can be stopped at any time. According to Google, with this the team can also guide important steps like CPR by watching videos.
In which places this feature has been activated
This feature has currently started only in America, some parts of Germany and some regions of Mexico. Google has clarified that it will run on phones running Android 8 or above. Gradually it will be rolled out in other countries also, but at present Google has not given its timeline.
How does this feature work
When a user calls or messages the emergency number, the dispatcher can send you a request to share live video to get an idea of your situation. As soon as you receive this request, you can turn on the camera and stream live video as per your wish. Google says that this video is end-to-end encrypted and only the emergency team can see it.
Google said that by turning on the camera with one tap, the user can directly send live video. With this, the fire brigade, police or medical team can immediately understand how serious the situation is. In many cases, this feature can also help in steps like CPR as the dispatcher can guide you in real time.
Does Apple have such a feature?
Apple does not yet have such a feature in which the emergency team can see you in live video. Apple has services like Emergency SOS, crash detection, fall detection and satellite location. In these, the phone itself senses the activity through sensors and sends an alert. In Satellite SOS, the user sends location and conditions through messages, but the facility of live video is not available yet.
That means Android has taken emergency communication one step forward with this feature. The biggest difference here is that Apple’s sensor-based feature sends automatic alerts, whereas Android’s Emergency Live Video sends real-time visual information of the incident directly to the dispatcher. This makes it much easier to give instructions and understand the situation immediately.
