Gen-Z professionals in India are now giving more importance not just to salary but also to work flexibility and personal life balance. Randstad India report shows that this generation wants more value-based work than traditional jobs. 82% of youth are excited about the use of AI, but 44% fear its impact on jobs. This is a signal for companies that they will have to adapt their work culture and policies to new thinking.
New Delhi. The youth of India are no longer taking their career decisions based only on good salary, rather they are looking for flexibility in work, personal life balance and meaning in work. This trend is clearly visible in Randstad India’s new report ‘The Gen-Z Workplace Blueprint’. The report says that the generation born between 1997 and 2012, i.e. Gen-Z, is now giving preference to jobs that match their personal values, rather than staying in the same company for a long time. The biggest motivation for this generation is no longer just salary, but flexible working hours and the right balance between work and personal life.
The report said that Gen-Z youth prefer remote work and travel opportunities abroad more than traditional perks such as bonuses or extra vacations. They want jobs where there is an opportunity to learn and the work environment is friendly. Vishwanath PS, CEO of Randstad India, said that only those companies who adopt flexible policies and promote a culture of learning will be able to attract this new generation. He says that to retain Gen-Z youth, not only salary but also trust, respect and freedom are equally important.
Side Hustle With Full-Time Job Trending
According to the report, a large number of Gen-Z professionals in India prefer to do some other work along with a full-time job. This means that the era of “one job, one life” is coming to an end. Milind Shah, Managing Director, Randstad Digital India, said that only those tech companies who understand this trend and work with new thinking will be able to attract Gen-Z talent in the times to come.
Both hope and fear from AI
The report also revealed interesting results regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI). 82% of Gen-Z professionals are excited about AI and 83% are using it in their work. However, about 44% of the youth are also worried that AI may affect their jobs in the future.
New signal for companies
Overall, for Gen-Z, growth, opportunity to learn and respect in a job are now more important than longevity in a job. This change is a big opportunity for companies to change their work culture and talent strategy with time and prepare it for the coming generation.
