BCA Cricket Operations Manager AK Chandan told Local 18 that if a player wishes to make a career in cricket and wants to progress in this field, then first of all he will have to play club cricket. After joining the club, you will have to learn cricket. After better performance here, we will have to play against the district level. Will have to perform better in inter-district matches. If your performance is better here too, then you will be selected further and you will play in the state level tournament.
After this, on the basis of your performance, there will be selection for BCCI matches. Let us tell you that BCCI has different tournaments in different age groups. He further informed that BCCI organizes many important domestic cricket tournaments for different age categories. Talking about men’s junior category, first of all there is Vijay Merchant Trophy, which is a multi-day tournament played with red ball for under-16 players. After this, Vinoo Mankad Trophy is organized, which is an under-19 category ODI (white ball) tournament. There is also Cooch Behar Trophy in the same age group, which is a four-day first-class format played with red ball.
After this, CK Nayudu Trophy (four-day) for Under-23 players and Coll. C.K. Nayudu ODI tournaments are organised. Its objective is to prepare players for senior cricket. At the same time, three big domestic tournaments are included in the men’s senior category. Ranji Trophy, which is India’s most prestigious first-class (four-day) tournament. After this, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which is a national level T-20 format tournament. At the same time, Vijay Hazare Trophy is a domestic ODI tournament of 50 overs.
