Acne Drug can Treat Baldness: Hair fall is a big problem of today’s men. Hair starts falling at the age of 20-22 years. In some people, half the hair on the head goes away before the age of 30. But this will not happen now. Scientists are working on many types of research. Recently scientists have found a solution to this problem. Actually, a solution has been found to stop the problem of hair fall with the already existing medicine for acne and pimples.
Acne Drug can Treat Baldness: Baldness or hair fall from the head is becoming a common problem of today’s youth. Hair is disappearing from the head of a young boy. In earlier times, hair used to fall from the head only after 50-60 years. Even the hair used to be very black but today at the age of 20-25 the hair becomes in bad condition. If someone’s hair starts falling, someone becomes bald, someone’s hair becomes thin and someone’s hair becomes lifeless. The good thing is that scientists are working day and night to stop hair fall or to get rid of the problem of baldness and they have come very close to making a medicine for it. Meanwhile, scientists have found an immediate solution to this. Actually, a medicine for pimples and acne on the face was made by scientists which was approved only five years ago. Now this medicine is being claimed to cure baldness.
Big achievement in stopping hair fall
According to the report published in the Journal of Drug in Dermatologist, when the acne drug clascoterone was applied on the bald head, there was a surprising reduction in the hormones responsible for baldness. When the hormone called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) starts getting released in excess, it shrinks the hair follicles under the head. That is, the loop through which the hair comes out becomes so narrow that the hair is unable to come out from there. This is most of the reasons for baldness in men. Clascoterone medicine prevents these follicles from shrinking. Scientists claim that a three-phase trial has been conducted on patients suffering from androgenetic alopecia, i.e. baldness, due to which the results have been much better. If it is approved, it can prove to be the biggest treatment to stop hair fall in the last 30 years. Because Clascoterone blocks Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the areas on the head where it is needed. Therefore, there is hope that this drug can increase hair growth without causing hormonal side effects compared to oral anti-androgens like finasteride.
How does clascoterone work?
Let us know about how Clascoterone works in the process of preventing pattern baldness in men. First of all let us know why baldness or hair loss occurs. Testosterone is a hormone produced in men. One of this hormone is Dihydrotestosterone i.e. DHT. This hormone is considered the villain of baldness in men. In men who have a genetic predisposition, DHT binds to androgen receptors located in the dermal papilla cells of the hair follicles of the head. This starts a chain of reactions, which gradually shrinks the hair follicle and shortens the growth phase of the hair, ultimately leading to thinning and hair loss. Clascoterone is a topical anti-androgen. It works directly on the skin. Studies have shown that when applied to the scalp it competitively binds to those same androgen receptors and prevents DHT from sticking there. In this way it stops androgen-induced follicle shrinkage.
no side effects
Till now, the medicines available to prevent hair fall have a lot of side effects. It has side effects like mood irritability, anxiety and mainly decreased sexual arousal, but this medicine is a cream which is applied on the head. Therefore it affects the cells of the head only. Its metabolism is very rapid, so the medicine is widely absorbed in the body. As a result, the risk of any system-level side-effects remains extremely low. In this, the natural secretion of hormones inside the body is not tampered with in any way. That means its side effects are negligible.
