Dr. Alok Chaurasia, posted at Maharajpur Primary Community Health Center in Chhatarpur, says that in the winter season in the district, there are thorny bushes in the trees. In which small sized plum fruits are planted.

Dr. Alok says that Vitamin C, antioxidants and fiber are found in abundance in this plum, which gives warmth to the body in cold and strengthens the immunity. Eating ripe plum is beneficial, whereas raw plum should be taken in limited quantity only, because excess Vitamin C can cause cold and cough.

Dr. Alok explains that the fruit of wild plum usually found in the winter months is like a gift given by the forests. It is seen in the markets only for 1 to 2 months in a year.

He further said that nutrients like B1, B2, B3, B6 and C, minerals like potassium, phosphorus, manganese, iron, and zinc, flavonoids, amino acids, organic acids, polysaccharides are found in sufficient quantity in wild plum. Consuming it in quantity provides relief from many diseases.
He further said that the potassium, magnesium and phosphorus present in the plum help in controlling blood pressure. It is beneficial in improving blood flow. The anti-aging elements present in it are helpful in keeping the face clean.

Dr. Alok further says that it is beneficial in strengthening the digestive system, due to which its fruits are beneficial for both humans and animals. But its berry has a cooling effect. Therefore, its consumption in excess quantity should be avoided. Consuming it in excess can cause cough.
