Vishwa Shanti Stupa: Symbol of Peace
This Peace Pagoda is an extremely beautiful and grand symbol of world peace. Its height is 125 feet and the diameter of its dome is 65 feet, which gives a feeling of peace and grandeur from a distance. This stupa was built by the Japanese Buddhist organization Nipponzon Myohoji. Relics of Lord Buddha, gold ornaments and glass items are kept safe in its internal structure.
Buddha statue adds to its beauty
Four attractive and charming gold colored statues of Lord Buddha are installed around the stupa, which further enhances its beauty. This huge and milky white stupa is surrounded by a calm pond, which makes it very beautiful naturally. This stupa is similar in appearance to the Shanti Stupa located in Rajgir. Every day thousands of followers of Buddhism and Jainism and common tourists come here and take inspiration from this center of peace.
Religious and historical importance
The religious importance of Vaishali is very deep. This is the birthplace of Lord Mahavir, the originator of Jainism, which is known as Basokund or Kundalpur. For this reason it is a very sacred pilgrimage site for the Jain community. Apart from this, Vaishali is also closely associated with the life of Lord Buddha. It is said that Lord Buddha had come here many times and had spent a lot of time here. Buddha had also announced his Mahaparinirvana in Kushinagar here in Vaishali. It is also said that he gave his last sermon in Kolhua, Vaishali. In memory of this historical importance, Emperor Ashoka built the famous Ashoka’s Pillar (Ashoka Pillar) here, which even today tells the story of that era.

The nearest major stations for travel by train are Muzaffarpur Railway Station (about 30 km away) and Hajipur Junction (about 41 km away).
