Kannauj: When domestic disputes arising out of small matters reach the police and court, relationships often reach the verge of breaking. In such critical situations, the team of women counselors and police personnel posted at the counseling center of Kannauj Police have emerged as a ray of hope for many families. This initiative of Kannauj Police has so far saved more than 200 families from disintegration.
In Kannauj district, cases related to disputes between husband and wife are taken up every day through the counseling center. Most of these complaints are related to domestic disputes, mental harassment or petty squabbles. On receiving a complaint, the police calls both the parties and listens to them peacefully and tries to resolve mutual differences through counselling. It has been seen in many cases that when even a minor dispute reaches the police, it leads to a breakdown in the family, but with the advice of the counseling centre, the situation gets resolved.
In how many cases was the agreement reached?
If we look at the data, a total of 416 complaints were registered at the counseling center from January 1, 2025 to December 18, 2025. In 231 of these cases, a compromise was reached between the husband and wife and they were persuaded to live together again, and the families are living a satisfactory and happy life today. In the remaining cases also, the police is continuously trying to ensure that the dispute does not reach the court. However, there are some cases in which compromise is not possible and they have to be sent for further legal process.
What did the Superintendent of Police say?
Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar said that the counseling center of Kannauj Police is being operated seven days a week. Here trained women counselors and police personnel are working with full sensitivity. He said that successful settlement has been achieved in more than 60 percent of the cases registered so far, which is a commendable achievement. This initiative of Kannauj Police is not only strengthening the law and order but is also doing important work in saving relationships in the society.
What did the center inspector say?
Counseling Center Inspector Ranjan Pandey said that in case of dispute between husband and wife, we try our best to reach an amicable settlement between the two. Till now we have achieved success in 231 cases and we are continuously trying to ensure that families do not break or disintegrate due to minor disputes between husband and wife.
