America is preparing to start a ‘new phase’ of action against Venezuela. A large-scale American military gathering is visible in the Caribbean. Russia has promised to help the Maduro government. Amidst increasing tension, the American ship also diverted the Russian tanker from the route.
US President Donald Trump is engaged in making peace between Russia and Ukraine. For this he has given a 28 point peace plan. But it seems that Trump is about to end one war and start another. America’s activities regarding Venezuela have suddenly intensified. It is possible that Trump wants to stage a coup. According to the report of news agency Reuters, the Donald Trump administration may start a ‘new phase’ of operations related to Venezuela in the coming days. However, American officials themselves are not able to tell clearly what the action will be like and when it will start, because the White House has not yet made the final decision public. For several weeks, America has been continuously sending its ships and other military capabilities to the Caribbean region. But America does not openly say what it is actually preparing to do. Four US officials claimed that the initial steps could be covert operations in Venezuela and their direct target would be the government of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. US officials are calling it a campaign against drug trafficking and Maduro is accused of harboring drug networks. Maduro denies these allegations.
Here the Trump administration is considering the option of even removing Maduro. Venezuela’s army is already weak and according to Reuters report, many units are even arranging for food from local businessmen. This situation is considered to be part of the deepening crisis, due to which the Maduro government is discussing a strategy of ‘prolonged resistance’ in the event of a possible attack. US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth had recently said that preparations are being made to take both ‘concrete’ and ‘overt’ action against Venezuela. On Monday, America is going to declare the alleged drug network ‘Cartel de los Solace’ as a foreign terrorist organization. America claims that it is led by Maduro.
America blocked the path of Russian ship
On the other hand, tension is visible in the sea also. A few days ago, a Russian tanker named ‘Seahorse’ was going to Venezuela, but on the way the American destroyer USS Stockdale came in front of it. After this the Russian ship took a U-turn and turned towards Cuba. According to Bloomberg, this ship has tried to reach Venezuela three times, but returned every time after the activity of American ships. The American side has not given any official statement on this.
Many airlines canceled flights
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) warned on Friday that a ‘potentially dangerous situation’ could develop over Venezuela and that airlines needed to be extremely cautious. After this warning, Venezuelan air routes are also being affected. Just a day after the US warned of ‘potential danger’, many major international airlines canceled their flights from Caracas. This step was taken suddenly on Saturday, due to which huge chaos was seen among the passengers. According to flight tracking site Flightradar24 and several other reports, Brazil’s Gol, Colombia’s Avianca, Chile’s LATAM, Trinidad and Tobago’s Caribbean Airlines and TAP Air Portugal canceled their scheduled flights.
US forces in the Caribbean
American military presence in the Caribbean has increased rapidly in recent times. America’s largest aircraft carrier ‘Gerald R Ford’ also reached here with its strike group on 16 November. Along with this, at least eight warships, one nuclear submarine and F-35 fighter aircraft are also present.
Maduro asked for help from Russia
On the other hand, Russia is also keeping an eye on the situation. Recently, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that talks are ongoing to meet Venezuela’s military needs. Maduro government has asked for military support from Russia. He has demanded repair of Sukhoi jet, radar update and missile system. Some time ago a mysterious Russian plane has also landed in Venezuela. Now everyone’s eyes are on whether the Trump administration will take anything like military action or is it just a pressure tactic.
