Birth Certificate in Delhi: The tension of parents who give birth to children in Delhi hospitals is now completely over. Parents will no longer have to visit MCD and hospitals for birth certificate nor will they have to wait. Under the new scheme of MCD, now parents will get the birth certificate even before discharge from the hospital.
Delhi Birth Certificate by MCD: After the birth of a child in Delhi, parents will no longer have to visit the hospital or municipal corporation or wait for a long time for the birth certificate. Now after the birth of the child, the birth certificate will be received as soon as the child is discharged from the hospital. MCD is soon going to make many changes in the process of issuing birth certificate, due to which the physical copy of the birth certificate will be given to the parents even before the child is discharged from the hospital after birth.
An official associated with MCD said that MCD has also linked the process of issuing birth certificate with DigiLocker and Aadhaar number generation. He told that this scheme of giving birth certificates for institutional births is being run with the help of hospitals and clinics.
‘The process of giving birth certificate within the hospital is going on in full swing and its 100 per cent implementation is expected. Most of the births nowadays take place in institutional ones, hence most of the people will be able to avail the benefit of this facility. All parents will be given a free copy of the birth certificate before discharge from the hospital. The success of this initiative is already visible.
Let us tell you that this scheme was announced by MCD Commissioner Ashwini Kumar last week. According to the birth-death registration annual report of MCD, there were 306,459 births in Delhi in 2024. In such a situation, the average of births every day in Delhi has been around 837. The report shows that of these, 294,464 (96.09%) births took place in institutional births i.e. hospitals or clinics, while 11,995 (3.91%) births took place in homes.
Certificates can be kept in DigiLocker
It was told by the MCD official that its Public Health Department has also integrated its system with the DigiLocker of the Central Government. Just like people keep their high school and intermediate marksheets, they can now store the authenticated copy of the birth certificate, eliminating the hassle of carrying the original document. Even if the MCD website crashes, it can always be accessed.
