Passengers traveling by train will not have to wait for vendors coming to the platform to get food and drinks. Indian Railways is making special arrangements in the stations, through which the passenger can himself buy his favorite from the automatic machines.
New Delhi. The sound of hot tea or hot samosa on the platform while traveling in trains will become a thing of the past. Keeping in mind the facilities and comfort of the passengers, Railways is installing automatic vending machines at the stations. From these machines the passenger can buy cashless goods himself. It has been started from Durgapur station of Asansol division of Eastern Railway. Gradually machines will be installed at other stations also.
These state-of-the-art vending machines will provide passengers with a variety of hygienically packaged food items, snacks and beverages round the clock. Designed with UPI-based digital payment interface, these machines make transactions simple, fast and contactless. This saves time for passengers especially during rush hours or late at night and also helps in avoiding queues.
The introduction of these Automated Vending Machines (AVMs) marks the modernization of passenger amenities and improving travel experience on the Asansol division. With the introduction of these Automated Vending Machines (AVMs), Durgapur station takes another step towards becoming a smart, clean and passenger-centric station. This initiative has been taken keeping in mind the innovation, digital transformation and customer satisfaction of Indian Railways. According to the Railway Ministry, such machines will gradually be installed at other major stations also.
