Along with this, immediately after birth, the lamb should be fed the mother’s first milk called colostrum. The first milk of goat is very nutritious for the child. This protects the children from diseases. To protect the lambs from cold, the enclosure should be covered with sack or thick cloth, so that the cold air does not come in directly. Apart from this, it is necessary to arrange bedding for the goats to sit, so that the lamb does not come in contact with the cold floor and it can get adequate warmth.
Fear of pneumonia in cold weather
At the same time, old jute sack can also be used to keep the lambs safe from cold. Talking about food, food should always be given to the goat kids only up to 10 percent of their weight, because giving more food can also lead to the death of the lambs due to indigestion. Therefore, lambs should be given balanced food and should always be fed clean lukewarm water. At the same time, due to lack of care during the cold season, problems related to pneumonia, hypothermia and infection are mainly seen in goat kids. Symptoms like chills, shivering, lethargy, fever and mucus from the nose are seen in goats suffering from pneumonia in the grip of cold, and if timely treatment is not done, the condition becomes more serious. In such a situation, a veterinarian should be contacted as soon as possible for treatment.
Avoid giving green fodder to lambs
Whereas during winter, the problem of diarrhea is most common due to lack of cleanliness or irregularity in diet. The goat becomes completely weak. In such a situation, it is necessary to contact the veterinarian in case of any problem of the friend and during this time one should avoid giving green fodder to the lambs, while boiled porridge is more beneficial for the goats.
