Muzaffarpur: In Bihar, in the month of October, Cyclone Montha caused massive destruction in many districts. Due to strong winds and rain, crops of a large number of farmers were destroyed. In such a situation, the state government has started the process of providing crop damage compensation to provide relief to the affected farmers. Giving information, the District Agriculture Officer said that farmers should apply for compensation as soon as possible, because this process will continue only till December 2, 2025.
In Muzaffarpur district, the maximum impact of the storm was seen in three blocks of the district in which Katra, Gaighat, and Aurai Montha were seriously affected by the storm. There was huge damage to the paddy crop in the fields in these areas. The finished crop of many farmers has completely failed, due to which their financial condition has been affected. The administration has surveyed these areas and prepared a preliminary estimate of the loss, on the basis of which the process of giving compensation has been expedited.
The Agriculture Department said that farmers can apply online using their 13 digit registration number. For this, you will have to fill the application form by visiting the official website of Agriculture Department of Bihar Government or DBT Agriculture Portal. Farmers have been advised to fill the necessary documents like registration number, Aadhar card, bank passbook and information related to crop damage correctly, so that there is no error in the application.
The list of districts affected by storm Montha has also been released. Apart from Muzaffarpur, farmers’ crops have also suffered huge damage in Begusarai, East Champaran, Kaimur, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Gaya, Bhojpur, Madhepura, Darbhanga, Shivhar and Supaul. The same process of compensation application will be applicable for the farmers of these districts also.
The District Agriculture Officer said that the government is committed to providing all possible relief to the farmers. The agricultural sector is most affected by natural disasters, hence this compensation scheme is an important step to provide financial support to the farmers. The officer has appealed to the farmers to apply as soon as possible without waiting for the last date, so that their payment can be approved on time.
