Bihar winter Vacation 2025: The month of November is about to end. Cold has started and the situation is such that the fog becomes thick in the morning. Children feel cold while going to school. In such a situation, parents have started worrying about when the winter vacation will start in schools.
Bihar winter vacation 2025: Like every year, this time also school winter holidays will be issued by the governments as per their own. Generally, the winter vacation of schools in Bihar is fixed for 7 days from 25th December to 31st December, which also includes Christmas and Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, i.e. schools reopen from 1st January, but sometimes keeping in view the weather conditions, the district administration also reduces and increases the holidays as per its own. Like previous years, if the cold and fog increases more then the holidays can increase.

This time too, there is every possibility of winter vacation starting from December 25 in UP. Most schools and colleges are closed by Christmas and children get about 15 days of leave, which lasts till first or mid January. Till now no official notification has come from the Education Department, but the pattern of the last several years has been that schools are closed from 25th December and reopen after the start of the new year in January. As soon as the cold increases the final order will come. The dates will be confirmed, but for now we can consider December 25 as a holiday.
When were the holidays in Bihar last year?
In 2024, winter vacation in Bihar was from 26 December to 6 January, but when winter increased, it was extended to 11 January for classes 1 to 8. This time also the Meteorological Department has warned that the temperature will fall further from November 24. In districts like Patna-Muzaffarpur, it will go below 10 degrees. In Aurangabad the temperature has reached 13 degrees. In such a situation, the education department can issue additional notice keeping in mind the health of the children. No extension has been announced yet, but an update is expected by the end of December. Winter vacation can be announced soon for children of classes 1 to 5. Morning fog and chill can be harmful for children. In most of the schools, winter vacations last from the end of December to the beginning of January, but it depends on the cold.
When will it be announced?
Like every year, the Bihar government releases the final notification in the third-fourth week of December, which means we will have to wait for a while. Everything will be clear by the last days of December. From now on, keep an eye on the website of the Education Department and the notification of the DEO office of your district.
Winter vacation declared in Jammu and Kashmir
At present, complete details of winter vacation in Jammu and Kashmir have come. Pre-primary schools will remain closed from 26th November. Classes will be held for classes 1-8 till 1st December and there will be winter vacation for classes 9-12 from 11th December. Schools up to class 8 will open on March 1. The rest will open from February 22. The temperature in Jammu and Kashmir had gone below zero, so an early decision was taken on winter vacation here. Similarly, in Bihar too, there may be holidays in schools from 25th to 31st December, but keep checking the website of the Education Department or the notification of the DEO office.
