In the winter season, a new problem arises in front of two-wheeler drivers. As soon as it is time to leave for office, college or any important work in the morning, the bike or scooter does not even start. It is common for the engine to jam or the battery to go down due to cold.

While during the rainy season the bike would stop due to water ingress, in winter this problem occurs due to falling temperature. Many times one has to kick for so long that one starts sweating and one is forced to pull the bike on foot.

According to experts, in cold weather, the engine oil of a bike parked overnight becomes thick and the capacity of the battery also reduces. Apart from this, moisture in the spark plug is also a major reason due to which the fuel does not burn properly and the vehicle does not start.

If the bike does not start by itself on the first try in the winter morning, do not press the self button again and again. This can completely discharge the battery. The engine jams in cold weather, so using kick to start the bike in the morning is the best option. This does not put any load on the battery.

The engine requires more fuel to start in cold weather. Almost all bikes have the option of choke. Before starting in the morning, turn on the choke and then kick. Once the bike starts and the engine warms up a bit, close the choke.

Once the bike starts, do not press the accelerator immediately. Let the engine start for at least 1-2 minutes. Due to this, the engine oil will heat up and spread properly throughout the engine and your bike will not stop on the way.

Before winter arrives, definitely get your bike’s battery checked. If the battery is old or weak, it can cheat in the cold. If there is white carbon deposited on the battery terminals, clean it with hot water.
