In 2020, Kalpana Jha and Uma Jha started a pickle making business from their home in Darbhanga and named it ‘JhaJi’. Today this brand is earning a revenue of more than Rs 9 crore and not only this, it also has 1.5 lakh customers. But just think about how he achieved this position without a degree. This story is an example of hard work, family and courage.
Kalpana Jha was afraid to start a business. But his family supported him. Her husband inspired her to earn and she started taking care of the house herself. You earn and I will take care of the house. The daughter gave the initial money and the son looked after the operation and marketing. Sister-in-law Uma was made the founder. Then on October 2, 2020, ordered a dozen pickles online and did research.
Finalized the recipe for testing at home. He took the license of company register, prepared the packaging website and spent five to six lakh rupees and after six months he launched this brand.
The first 1000 customers were friends, relatives and neighbors and only 25 jars of their brand were sold on the first day. Not only this, the first Rs 249 note was framed by Kalpana ji. Within 15 days, a sale worth one lakh was made. Took feedback from every customer and improved his recipe. Got 1000 customers in two months. But they ran out of inventory and had no cash. Asked for credit from vendors so that the work could be taken forward.
After this, from June 2021 to June 2022, 25 thousand orders of 20 thousand kg pickles became more than 20 varieties. Average order was Rs 580, CAC was Rs 100 and monthly traffic was 50 thousand. 54 people work here and most of them are women.
This brand was also seen on Shark Tank in August. The bestseller was out of stock within 24 hours and their company received more than 2000 calls. Team Double canceled its New Year plans and completed orders for three weeks. By February, up to 400 kg pickles were being made every day and lakhs of people started buying them daily.
Kalpana ji believes that she is able to provide jobs to lakhs of people through this pickle business. Every morning women ask for work. Earlier she used to work for Rs 40 but now she is comfortable working for more money. Jhaji store has now become the hope of the women of the village. Kalpana and Uma are real heroes for all those women who break the chains and come to work every day.
