Showed strength in 52 kg category
In the 52 kg weight category of the junior category, Shagufta Naaz won excellent matches one after the other.
Surprised the player from Uttar Pradesh by knocking her out. Defeated the player from Himachal Pradesh by 0-9. Captured the gold medal by defeating the strong opponent of Haryana 1-9. Veteran junior players from states across the country were participating in this competition. But Shagufta left everyone behind on the basis of her skill, fitness and technique and won the gold.
10 medals in three years
Shagufta has been continuously dominating at the national level for the last three years. Till now she has won 10 medals. She also became the champion of Bihar by winning the gold medal in her age group in the Open National Championship held in Sonipat, Haryana in 2023. The continuous shining of a Muslim girl on the national stage in a tough and technical sport like grappling is also inspiring for the society.
Didn’t lose courage even after being orphaned
Shagufta’s success story is not only a story of sports but also a story of struggle. She lost her parents at a very young age. After becoming orphan, his responsibility was taken by his maternal uncle Mohd. Picked up by Kaleem alias Vikas Ahmed. Amidst all this, Shagufta achieved this position with her hard work and dedication while studying in GM High School, Badharia. This wonderful confluence of family support and personal passion is clearly reflected in her gold medals today.
