Due to operational reasons, Railways has canceled many MEMU and passenger trains on Tatanagar-Chakradharpur and Kharagpur routes on 18th and 19th December. Some trains will operate partially, while the route of Delhi-Bhubaneswar and Anand Vihar-Puri Express has been changed. Passengers have been advised to check the status of trains through the helpline before departure.
Jamshedpur: Important information has been issued for passengers traveling from Tatanagar railway station on 18 and 19 December 2025. Due to operational reasons, many MEMU and passenger trains have been canceled by the Railway Administration, while it has been decided to operate some trains partially. Apart from this, the routes of two long distance special and express trains have also been changed. In such a situation, passengers have been advised to check the status of their train before reaching the station.
According to the information released by Railways, Tatanagar–Chakradharpur–Kandra–Tatanagar MEMU Passenger (68128/68127) has been completely canceled on 18 and 19 December 2025. Along with this, Kharagpur-Jagdalpur-Purulia-Jagdalpur-Kharagpur MEMU Passenger (68093/68023 and 68024/68094) will also not operate on these two days.
Kharagpur–Tatanagar–Kharagpur Conventional Passenger (58027/58028) and Kharagpur–Tatanagar–Kharagpur MEMU Passenger (68015/68016) have also been cancelled, affecting the movement of passengers. A large number of students, working people and passengers from rural areas travel by these trains every day, who will now have to resort to alternative means.
Apart from this, it has been decided to run some trains partially. Santragachi–Jagdalpur MEMU train (68001) will be run only up to Kharagpur station on 18th and 19th December, i.e. this train will terminate there. Whereas Jagdalpur-Santragachhi MEMU train (68008) will start from Kharagpur station only on both these days. Due to this, MEMU service on Kharagpur-Jagdalpur-Kharagpur section will be completely suspended, which will also affect the passengers connected to Tatanagar.
Talking about route change, both Delhi-Bhubaneswar special train (08404), which will run on 16 December 2025, and Anand Vihar Terminal-Puri Express (12816), which will operate on 17 December 2025, have been diverted from the Kharagpur-Hijli route. However, it is a matter of relief that there has been no reduction in the scheduled stoppages of these trains.
Railway’s appeal to railway passengers
Railway administration has appealed to the passengers traveling from Tatanagar station to get updates through railway helpline, station information center or authorized app before travelling, so that inconvenience can be avoided.
