Sovereign Gold Bond: There is good news for those investing in gold. Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2017-18 Series-VII is going to mature on November 13, 2025.
Investors of Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2017-18 Series-VII will now get a return of Rs 12,350 per gram as against Rs 2,961 per gram, i.e. a handsome profit of about 288 percent.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said that this redemption price is based on the average price of gold for the last three trading days (10, 11 and 12 November 2025) published by the India Bullion and Jewelers Association (IBJA).
Investors do not need to complete any formalities on the day of maturity. The entire amount of the bond and the last interest installment will be transferred directly to their bank account. Those who have bonds in demat form will get payment through their depository.
The Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme was launched in November 2015 to enable people to invest in paper form instead of physical gold.
These sovereign gold bonds issued by the government are a safe and convenient option for investing in gold. These bonds give 2.5 percent interest every year.
Sovereign Gold Bonds are issued for a period of 8 years, but after 5 years, investors can also exit prematurely if they wish.
There is no capital gains tax on maturity of Sovereign Gold Bond, although the interest received on it is taxable.
