The stewards considered Piastri to be at fault for the incident with Antonelli and Leclerc.
The Australian darted around the inside and was almost alongside Antonelli as the three cars entered the first corner side by side.
But Piastri blocked a wheel on the inside and the two cars collided at the apex. That launched Antonelli into Leclerc, breaking the Ferrari’s front suspension.
Although the move seemed good, the stewards decided that the collision had been caused by Piastri and penalized him 10 seconds.
Piastri hasn’t finished ahead of Norris since the Dutch Grand Prix at the end of August and momentum has really disappeared from his season with only races left in Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
Behind Piastri, Oliver Bearman put in another great race to finish best of the rest for Haas in sixth.
Behind him, Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson led a long train of cars across the line, followed by the New Zealander, team-mate Isack Hadjar, Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly, Williams’ Alex Albon, Haas’s Esteban Ocon, Sainz and Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso.
