Godda: The audacity of criminals is continuously increasing in Dumka, the sub-capital of Jharkhand. Especially the people of Masliya police station area are now living under the shadow of fear, because here criminals are entering people’s houses wearing police uniform and committing incidents of robbery. This is the second major incident within the last three months, which has also weakened the trust in the police in the minds of the villagers. The latest incident took place in Baratol village, where nine armed fake policemen arrived in police uniform at around 11:30 pm last night and opened the door of the house of house owner Nizamuddin Ansari, posing as the police of Masliya police station. As soon as the family members opened the door, the criminals in uniform pointed guns and controlled everyone. Mobile phones of all the family members were snatched away. After this, the criminals broke the locks of two locked rooms of the house and kept searching five rooms for about one and a half hours. The criminals escaped with jewelery and about Rs 2.5 lakh in cash. It is being told that this amount was received by the homeowner’s sister as dowry after the divorce.
The soil of two rooms was also dug in search of valuables.
A total of 6 members of the family were present in the house while the number of criminals was 9. Everyone had a sixer, a country-made pistol and an iron rod. According to the information, the criminals had come in a four-wheeler. They also dug into two rooms of the house in the hope of finding valuables. This entire incident of robbery continued till around 1 o’clock, after which the criminals escaped easily.
On information, Masaliya police station reached the spot
As soon as information about the incident was received, Masaliya police station in-charge Rajesh Ranjan reached the spot with his team and took complete information from the homeowner. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police is investigating with the help of border Paljori and Sarath police stations. However, the police have currently refused to comment on any findings.
A similar incident had happened three months ago also
On September 12, 2025, uniformed criminals entered the house of a widowed woman and looted it in Patanpur village. The police arrested some criminals in that case, but the entire gang could not be caught till now. Local people believe that due to lack of strict action in the previous incident, the morale of the criminals has increased and there is complete negligence of the police in this.
