Bellingham has scored 41 goals in 111 games for Real Madrid since arriving two years ago, playing a key role in a team that won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
He flourished under the leadership of Carlo Ancelotti, known for his ability to manage the personalities of the Los Blancos team, but like his teammates, he has found things more difficult under new coach Xabi Alonso this season.
“He has a great reputation in Madrid,” said Jesús Bengoechea, a writer for the Real Madrid fan media outlet La Galerna.
“The fans love him, not only for his technical quality but also for his commitment to the team. He comes across as someone who is truly dedicated to the jersey and what it represents.
“He plays a very influential role in the dressing room: he is one of the players who has taken a step forward after the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema left. Many people are surprised that he is not more acclaimed in England.
“Lately there have been some rumors about him not being as disciplined in some aspects, certain things about the level of intense work that Alonso is asking of the players. But we haven’t seen that on the pitch and I find it hard to believe.
“Alonso is like Tuchel, with quite cold characters and very tactical. I think it is a question of personalities that do not fit together.”
