Presently he is cultivating green peas and beans on more than half an acre of land. He is making a profit of up to Rs 70 thousand from a single crop.
Farmer Chaman Mishra says that earlier he used to cultivate traditional crops. It involved a lot of hard work and expenses, but the profit was not much. After this he started cultivating seasonal vegetables. At present he has cultivated beans in one bigha and green peas in two bighas. The cost of one bigha is around Rs 10 thousand, while the profit from one crop can be up to Rs 70 thousand.

Farmers say that the variety of green peas being grown in their fields is the Chinese variety. It gives higher yields than other varieties. Its pods are large and very sweet in taste, due to which its demand is high in the market. At the same time, beans are in demand in big hotels and restaurants, due to which farmers get better prices.

It is very easy to cultivate beans and peas. First of all, the field is plowed thoroughly two to three times. After this, the field is leveled by adding cowdung manure and other necessary fertilizers. Then beans and pea seeds are sown. The first irrigation is done about two weeks after the plants emerge. The crop becomes ready in about 50 to 55 days and harvesting begins.
