Went: Preparations are in the final stages to start operating trains at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour on the DDU-Gaya-Dhanbad railway section from the new year i.e. 2026. Speed trials have been conducted thrice on this railway section and all three trials have been successful. Now discussions are being held from senior officials to local officials regarding starting the operation of trains. After all the formalities are completed, trains will start running at the speed of 160.
completely repair the railway track
The railway track has been completely repaired before running the trains at high speed. Many times girders, slabs, railway tracks and lines have been changed using mega blocks. The track has been inspected with modern machines and wherever deficiencies were found, they have been rectified. Structural work is also going on on this railway section, due to which some passenger trains are being operated in a controlled manner. This entire work is part of an overall project, under which the railway infrastructure is being made modern and safe.
passengers will save time
According to the Railways, running of trains at faster speed will save time for passengers and provide them with a more convenient and reliable travel experience. The first speed trial on the Gaya-Dhanbad railway section was conducted on April 4, 2025, the second trial on May 24 and the third trial in September 2025. It is being told that all cautions have been removed from this railway section. Railway track renovation work is in the final stage. The old pulley girders have been replaced and new ones have been installed.
Signal system modernized
According to the information received, the entire signal system has been modernized keeping security in mind. Automatic signaling system has been promoted and all panels have been equipped with route relay interlocking system. It is noteworthy that for operation of trains at a speed of 160 km per hour, use of LHB rake will be necessary.
