We were defeated in the half-hour air battle that took place on the 7th. Chavan claimed that Indian planes were shot down. After this the Air Force was completely grounded. Not a single plane took off. He further said that if any plane had taken off from Gwalior, Bathinda or Sirsa, there was every possibility of it being shot down by Pakistan. This was the reason why the Air Force was stopped on the ground. It is surprising for a former Chief Minister to boast of the strength of the enemy country and call his army defeated.
