Ingredients of Instant Rasam Powder Premix-
Arhar dal – ½ cup
Coriander seeds – 2 tbsp
Cumin – 2 tbsp
Fenugreek seeds – 1 tablespoon
Black pepper – 1 tablespoon
Kashmiri red chilli – 5 whole
Curry leaves – 4 sticks
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Asafoetida – ¼ tsp
Salt – 1 tsp
Ingredients for making Rasam
Tomato – 2 (200 grams)
Ginger – ½ tsp
Oil – ½ tablespoon
Mustard – ¼ tsp
Curry leaves – 6-7 leaves
Salt – ½ tsp
Kashmiri red chilli powder – ¼ tsp
Method of making rasam powder-
First of all, fry arhar dal, coriander, cumin, fenugreek, black pepper and dry red chilli in a pan on low flame till the aroma comes out. Now add curry leaves and fry a little more. When the mixture cools down, grind it in a mixer and make a fine powder. Finally add turmeric, asafoetida and salt and store it in an airtight container. This premix remains safe for 2-3 months.
Method to make instant tomato rasam-
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves in it. Now add grated tomatoes and ginger and cook lightly. Add 1-2 tsp rasam powder and water in it. As soon as it boils, add salt and red chili powder. Hot rasam is ready in 3-5 minutes.
