Police crackdown on liquor smugglers

According to SSP Kumar Ashish, the police had received secret information about liquor smuggling through the river. After this, a raid was conducted in Manjhi area, where smugglers who had brought liquor by boat from Saryu river suddenly started firing on the police. In retaliation, the police shot a smuggler, who has been identified as Ajay Rai. 600 liters of illicit liquor and weapons have been recovered from the spot.

As soon as the smugglers saw the police, they started firing, in response to which the police opened fire and killed Ajay Rai by shooting him in the leg, while one of his associates was arrested. Police have also recovered 600 liters of liquor along with a country-made pistol and bullets from the spot.
