Mohd., resident of Maina village of Mahishi block of Saharsa district. Alam has changed the fate of about 100 youth by making the barren land fertile. Saddened by migration, Alam connected the youth and showed them the path to modern agriculture. Under his guidance, a pond was dug on the barren land of the village, in which fish farming, makhana production and water chestnut cultivation were simultaneously started. Some youth were also given training in mushroom production. This experiment became an example of success, due to which today about 100 youth (including women) are earning respectable income from agriculture-based work in the village itself. This effort of Alam has proved that with right guidance and collective hard work, even village soil can be turned into a source of employment.
