New Delhi. There is good news for the people of four cities of NCR, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad. They will not need to go to New Delhi or other stations of Delhi to catch the train. Trains will be available close to home. For this we will have to wait for some time. Indian Railways has given instructions to complete the work of redeveloping stations on time for the convenience of passengers.
Railway Ministry’s Executive Director Information and Publicity Dilip Kumar said that Railways is redeveloping 1337 stations under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Of these, work has started on about 1300 railway stations, out of which some of the completed stations have been inaugurated. Apart from this, some more stations are going to be ready soon, which will provide relief to the passengers in transportation. Work is also going on at all four stations of NCR.
These stations will be special
The railway stations which are being redeveloped. These include roof plaza, inter modal connectivity, children’s play area, kiosk, lift, waiting room, food court etc. Also, they are being made environment and disabled friendly. Many stations will have airport like facilities.
Ghaziabad station will be special
After New Delhi, Ghaziabad will be the second largest railway station of NCR. About 400 trains pass through the station on the Delhi-Howrah line every day and around 200 have a stoppage. After its redevelopment, people of Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida and surrounding areas will get convenience. Now people have to travel about 30 to 40 km to catch the train. Have to go far to Delhi. After the development of the station, as the number of passengers increases, the stoppage of trains will also be increased.
Delhi Cantt and Bijwasan
Two stations of Delhi are being redeveloped, these are Delhi Cantt and Bijwasan stations. People of Gurgaon and surrounding areas can catch the train from Delhi Cantt or Bijwasan railway station instead of Delhi. Since this station is not developed, major trains do not stop here. But after construction, people can catch trains from Cantt station also.
Faridabad station
Faridabad station is also being redeveloped. The work of making it like an airport has started. Will be developed as a multi-modal transport hub. A 500 meter long travelator (automatic pedestrian path) will be built between Faridabad Railway Station and Old Faridabad Metro Station. This will help passengers to move between stations.
