Chitrakoot: Chitrakoot, the religious city of UP, is known all over the world for its faith, spirituality and tradition. Parikrama of Kamadgiri mountain has been the center of faith of millions of devotees for years, but now for the first time Chitrakoot is going to add a new parikrama, a new religious chapter, that too of Parikrama of Valmiki Ashram. This is the same place which is known as the penance place of the great sage Valmiki.
Valmiki Ashram, located near Lalapur in Chitrakoot, is considered to be the holy place where Maharishi Valmiki sat and composed the immortal work like Ramayana. Devotees still feel this way in the peaceful atmosphere of the ashram. There is Tamsa river flowing nearby, which is considered a witness to the Ramayana period. But this entire area was waiting for development for years. It has neither a proper ghat, nor any lighting, nor any seating arrangement for the tourists. Now Chitrakoot Tourism Department has started the plan to develop Valmiki Ashram for the first time.
This will be development
Chitrakoot Tourism Officer R.K. Rawat said that a master plan has been prepared for this project and the budget proposal has been sent. The special thing is that like Kamadgiri, now a mountain circumambulation route will be built here too, which will be a completely new experience for the devotees. This route will be fully developed with lights, security and platforms. This will include new ghats on the banks of the river, attractive vermillion colored main gate, beautification of the ashram complex, pillar based lighting system, concrete meeting places, drinking water, toilets and accessible paths for the disabled.
Will be developed with approximately Rs 30 crores
He further informed that the entire project is estimated to cost around Rs 30 crore. After the money comes in from above, the work will be completed in 18 months through the organization. For the first time, there will be a second place in Chitrakoot after Kamadgiri where people will be able to do kilometer long religious parikrama. This will increase religious tourism in the area manifold and will also provide employment to the local people.
