Earlier there were no camera phones. At that time, tourists used to come here and get their photographs taken at different locations by local photographers. But in modern times, almost everyone has a smartphone and the camera quality of all phones is also very good. Due to which people now take photos with their phones only.
Photographer on the verge of unemployment
Local photographer Jeevan Singh says that he has been working for the last 40 years. Earlier work was done in black and white photos. In that period, along with the tourists coming to Nainital, local people also got photography done. But now almost 80 percent of the photo work has been reduced by mobile phones. Only 20 percent photo work is left in Nainital. Umesh says that there are a total of 250 photographers in the city. Whose livelihood depends on this work. In such a situation, if this work stops then how will their families be supported? Local photographer Bharti says that now his work is on the verge of closure. The number of tourists in the city is also decreasing since last few years, their work is getting double hit.
