Now the sailors doing boating at Ramghat will not be limited to just sailing the boat, rather they will connect the tourists with the religious, cultural and historical heritage of Chitrakoot as brand ambassadors of Chitrakoot. The aim of this initiative is that every devotee and tourist coming to Chitrakoot returns with an emotional connection and an unforgettable experience.
Sailors of Ramghat got special training
The district administration has given special training to the sailors doing boating at Ramghat, the main religious place of Chitrakoot. Under this training, the sailors were taught the art of storytelling, so that they could tell the religious traditions of Chitrakoot, local culture and incidents related to the Ramayana period to the tourists in an interesting manner during the boat trip. With this, tourists will not only have darshan but will also be able to connect with the soul of Chitrakoot.
Experts from Lucknow taught the art of storytelling
This training was organized at Sandhya Bhawan located at the night shelter of the Municipal Council. District Magistrate Pulkit Garg presided over the program. In the training session, renowned storyteller Gaurav Srivastava, who came from Kashiram Institute, Lucknow, told the sailors how a place can be made alive through the art of storytelling. He shared ways of presenting the importance of ghats, religious places, boating and tourist places of Chitrakoot in a simple, effective and emotional style.
Mythological tales of Chitrakoot will be narrated to tourists
The sailors of Ramghat who received the training say that this training given by the district administration has helped them in understanding how to communicate with the tourists and how to convey the importance of Chitrakoot. The sailors said that they have also been taught how to ensure the safety of the devotees and how to save someone’s life in case of drowning in the river. Along with this, strict instructions have been given to every boatman that film songs should not be played during boating and tourists must be told how their ancestors had helped Shri Ram cross the river.
Sailors create the first image, said District Magistrate
Regarding this initiative, District Magistrate Pulkit Garg said that almost every devotee coming to Chitrakoot definitely takes boating at Ramghat. In such a situation, sailors are the first and most influential medium who gives direction to the experience and thinking of tourists. The behavior of the sailors, their language and their knowledge can strengthen or weaken the image of Chitrakoot. For this reason, sailors are being groomed as brand ambassadors.
Digital payment and better behavior will be respected
The District Magistrate also said that by giving information about the ghats and tourist places through storytelling during boating, the tourists will not only enjoy but will also be able to understand the religious and cultural depth of Chitrakoot. Along with this, seafarers have been encouraged to adopt online payment system by connecting them with the thinking of Digital India. The sailors who provide a better experience to the tourists through their behaviour, knowledge and innovative efforts will also be honored and rewarded through the Tourism Department.
