Bihar Election Results 2025: The trends of Bihar Assembly elections so far have surprised even political pundits. Leaving behind all the traditional equations, the NDA alliance seems to be moving towards an overwhelming majority. In the 243-member assembly, the NDA is leading on about 191 seats, while despite big promises of employment and development, the grand alliance led by Tejashwi Yadav appears to be marginalized in the trends.
Big victory for NDA
In this election, JDU had fielded its candidates on 101 seats and till now it is leading on 76 seats. Last time in the 2020 elections, JDU had contested 115 seats, but could win only 43 seats. This time the trends show a significant improvement in the performance of JDU compared to the previous elections. At the same time, BJP has also contested elections on 101 seats and as per the trends received so far, it is leading on 84 seats. In 2020, BJP had fielded candidates on 110 seats and won 74 seats.
The performance of other allies of NDA has also been strong. Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) has contested elections on 6 seats and is leading on 4 seats. This time, Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has joined the NDA and fielded its candidates on 29 seats, out of which it is leading in 20 seats. In 2020, LJP (R) broke away from the alliance and contested 135 seats, but could win only one seat. This time’s protest is being considered as a political revival for him.
Stir in the opposition camp
These results have created a stir within the opposition grand alliance. Although the Grand Alliance had contested the elections by making Tejashwi Yadav the Chief Minister face and had adopted the strategy of consolidating Yadav, Muslim and Mallah votes, but this equation does not seem to be effective in the trends. Despite this, it would be wrong to say that Tejashwi Yadav has been completely rejected by the public, because his party RJD is still leading in the opposition camp.
Overall, the electoral trends have clearly indicated that this time the NDA is headed towards returning to power with a bigger majority, while the Grand Alliance is faced with the challenge of reviewing its strategies.
