Maruti Suzuki Sales Record: The country’s well-known car manufacturer Maruti has set a new record. Maruti Suzuki India has crossed the cumulative sales mark of three crore units in the domestic market. The country’s largest car manufacturing company said in a statement on Wednesday that it had crossed the cumulative sales mark of one crore for the first time in 28 years and two months.
Then one crore units were sold in seven years and five months. It said that subsequently, one crore units were sold in the domestic market in a record time of six years and four months. Along with Tier 1 cities of India, people in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities too have started thinking of buying a car. Along with this, today car companies in India have also given many options to the consumers.
What do the figures say?
Of the three crore units sold in India, Alto has emerged as the most popular model with more than 47 lakh units sold. After this, Wagon R stood at second place with 34 lakh units and Swift stood at third place with more than 32 lakh units. The vehicle manufacturer said that compact SUVs Brezza and Frontex are also among the top ten best-selling vehicles in the company’s segment.
CEO’s statement
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Maruti Suzuki India, said, “With car availability at about 33 vehicles per 1,000 persons, we know that our journey is not over yet.”
He said that the company will continue to make every possible effort to bring the joy of transportation to more and more people. Maruti Suzuki supplied the Maruti 800 to its first customer on 14 December 1983. It currently offers more than 170 variants across 19 models.
