This is the story of Indian-origin Pargan Singh alias Balbir, who works in a McDonald’s restaurant in Saugus, Massachusetts, America. Balbir was serving in this restaurant for the last 40 years. To celebrate the completion of 40 years of his service, the owner of the restaurant organized a dinner in his honor and also gave him a check of 40 thousand dollars (about Rs 35.50 lakh).
Paragan became part of the family
When Pargan alias Balbir came to work in Mc-D’s restaurant with his father for the first time, he had no idea that he would spend the next 40 years of his life serving here. When a dinner was organized in his honor, everyone from the owner of the restaurant to the employees called him a part of the family. Restaurant owner Lindsay Wallin says that Pargan initially came to work with his father and gradually became a part of the family.
Journey from plate picker to manager
Balbir started working in this restaurant from the very beginning. He started his service by cleaning chairs and tables and picking up garbage. Helped in the kitchen and gradually learned the work and reached the front desk. Pleased with his work, he was made the swing manager after 3-4 months. The owner of the restaurant says that currently she has Mc-D’s restaurants in 4 locations and Balbir is its strong pillar. We are very pleased to hire and retain Balbir.

The owner of the restaurant said that all the employees love Balbir very much and call him ‘Papa Bear’. He is a very happy person and completely dedicated towards his work. It is a pleasure for us to organize the honor for him. Balbir Singh says that for him, working here is like living with a family and that is why he managed to work at the same place for 40 years.
