Mushroom production involves very low cost and we can start it even with a thousand rupees. One mushroom bag costs Rs 90 and can produce up to 2 kg of mushrooms. The price of mushroom in the market is around Rs 150 to Rs 200 per kg. In this way, we can earn up to Rs 300-400 from a bag of Rs 90.
The second business is of vermi compost. These days the government is also promoting organic farming and encouraging farmers to use organic manure in the fields. Organic fertilizer increases the yield of grains and has no harm to health or the environment. We can produce it in our homes also. This can be done with animal dung or vegetable peels from the house. To do this business on a large scale, cow dung is required in which earthworms are added and organic fertilizer is prepared in 1-2 months. Its price in the markets is Rs 6-8 per kg.
The third business is that of nursery, this is a business which is beneficial for the environment. If someone wants to do nursery business then they can get more than double the profit from it. Planting a sapling in a nursery costs up to ₹ 5 and we can sell it for ₹ 10 to ₹ 20. There are dozens of farmers in Gaya district who are earning good income by being involved in nursery business.

The fourth business is beekeeping in which farmers can earn good income by producing honey at very low cost. The cost of one box is around ₹ 4000 in which the government gives subsidy up to 75%. That means the cost of one box is approximately ₹ 1000. Up to 15 kg of honey can be produced from one box in a season and honey is sold in the market at ₹ 200 to ₹ 300 per kg. In this way, one can earn around Rs 4000 from one box at a cost of Rs 1000.
The fifth business is that of Gobar Gas Plant. Only cow dung is required in this business. It costs around Rs 40 to 50 thousand to build the plant and subsidy is also given by the government for its construction. It costs more to build a plant on a large scale and with this one can produce 4 to 5 cylinders of biogas every day and earn good income by selling it in the markets.
