Kerala Nikay Election Results Live Updates: The results of the important local body elections, which are being considered as the semi-finals of power in Kerala, have now become clear to a great extent. The Congress-led UDF alliance has performed brilliantly in the state. The ruling CPM led LDF has suffered a setback in these elections. At the same time, BJP has given a shocking performance in these civic elections. The saffron party has won many district panchayats including Thiruvananthapuram.
Elections were held for 6 Municipal Corporations, 14 District Panchayats, 87 Municipalities, 152 Block Panchayats and 941 Gram Panchayats of Kerala. Counting of votes is going on in 244 centers and 14 district collectorates of the state. Here everyone’s eyes are on these results, because this will reveal the public’s inclination regarding the assembly elections to be held in 2026.

12:58 AM: Congress led UDF seems to be getting a huge victory in the civic elections in Kerala. In the results so far, UDF has got 477 seats, while CPM led LDF has got 362 seats and NDA has got 26 seats.
Talking about the results of Block Panchayat, UDF has got 81 seats, LDF has got 66 seats, while NDA is reduced to zero. If we look at the district panchayats, out of 14 seats, both UDF and LDF have got six seats each.
On the other hand, out of 87 municipalities, UDF has won 55, LDF has won 28, while NDA has won 2 municipalities. In the 6 municipal corporations of the state, UDF has got 4 seats, LDF has got 1 seat and NDA has got 1 seat.
12:01 PM: Celebration of Congress led UDF’s spectacular victory in Kerala civic elections has begun. According to the latest results of the Kerala State Election Commission, the Congress-led UDF has won 387 wards in the local body elections. CPM led LDF has won 283 wards. Whereas BJP led NDA has won in 71 wards and others are ahead in 59 wards.
11:15 AM: Talking about District Panchayats, out of the 14 seats declared so far, UDF and LDF have won 7 seats each. BJP won in the ward of CPM leader A Padmakumar, who is jailed in the Sabarimala gold theft case. BJP candidate Usha R Nair emerged victorious from the seventh ward of Aranmula Panchayat. BJP candidate VV Rajesh has won from Kodunganur division of Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation. Rajesh is a BJP leader who is being considered as a possible candidate for the post of mayor.
10:53 AM: The results of 152 block panjayats in Kerala civic elections have been declared so far. In this, UDF is leading with 70 seats. LDF is at second place by winning 66 seats, while NDA has won 2 seats. There is a tie in 11 panchayats.
10:33 AM: Out of the 941 Gram Panchayat results declared so far, the Congress-led UDF has won 360 seats. Out of 350 seats, CPM led LDF has won 350 seats, BJP led NDA has won 32 seats, while others have won 18 seats.
10:08 AM: Rijil Makkutty of Congress won from Adhikadalai ward of Kannur Municipal Corporation. This seat was earlier with LDF. BJP candidate Mumtaz won from Kannamkulangara ward of Thrissur Municipal Corporation.
9:40 AM: BJP has registered its first victory in Kochi Municipal Corporation. BJP’s Padmakumari won the existing seat of Island North Ward by defeating Congress leader Antony Kurethara.
9:15 AM: BJP opened its account in Koothuparamba, Kannur. In Palaparamba ward of the municipality, BJP candidate Ramita defeated CPM candidate P. Shyaja by 271 votes.
9:01 AM: In Wayanad’s Kalpetta, BJP won Puliyarmala ward, where the ancestral home of RJD leader MV Shreyams Kumar is located. BJP’s Ranjeet defeated RJD’s Sanush Kumar.
8:45 AM: NDA is leading on 7 seats in Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation. LDF is ahead on three seats and UDF on one seat.
How much voting took place in the civic elections?
State Election Commissioner A Shahjahan had announced on Thursday that this year’s local body elections in Kerala have seen the highest turnout since 1995.
According to the data released by the State Election Commission, in the local body elections held in two phases, 76.08 percent voting took place in the second phase. In the first phase of voting held on December 9, there was 70.91 percent voting. Accordingly, a total of 73.69 percent voting was recorded in the civic elections.
How was the result in the last election?
Earlier, the ruling LDF had got a massive victory in the 2020 local body elections. LDF had named 5 corporations, 43 municipalities, 11 district panchayats and 514 gram panchayats in the state. Apart from Kannur Municipal Corporation, UDF had won in 41 municipalities, 3 district panchayats and 321 gram panchayats. On the other hand, NDA won power in 3 municipalities and 19 gram panchayats. There was a tie between LDF and UDF in Kasaragod and Wayanad district panchayats, which was resolved by holding lottery. In this, Kasaragod went to LDF and Wayanad to UDF.
According to reports, LDF is confident of retaining all those corporations except Thrissur. It also hopes to capture all the district panchayats except Malappuram, Wayanad and Ernakulam.
At the same time, UDF has set a target of winning six district panchayats and more than 500 gram panchayats apart from three corporations Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kannur. These include the district panchayats of Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta, Wayanad and Malappuram.
For BJP, these civic elections are very important to strengthen its hold in the grassroots politics of the state. Sources associated with the saffron party said that it hopes to emerge as the largest party in Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur corporations. With confidence of winning Thrissur in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP is eyeing to significantly expand its presence in municipalities across the state.
